Aluminum welding: know-how helps you choose the kind that's right for you
Aluminum welding can be carried out using different techniques, each of which has its own pros and cons. Our technicians must choose the right technology for every type of machined part in order to optimize the resources and provide our customers with the highest quality components. The following three aluminum welding technologies are available within Minifaber's production departments:
1. Aluminum welding with MIG technology
MIG technology uses high temperatures to melt the edges of the parts to be welded and, under the protection of an inert gas, allows the filler material to join them together. It’s a very inexpensive technology that’s well suited to parts with greater thicknesses, but offers results that aren't very aesthetically pleasing.
2. Aluminum welding with TIG technology
TIG technology is the most suitable for welding aluminum, and is performed by making an arc weld with an infusible electrode, with or without the use of added filler material. It is especially suitable for welding parts that aren't very thick, and offers excellent performance and aesthetically pleasing results, but is a very delicate technology that requires highly qualified personnel in order to be performed correctly.
Minifaber is capable of performing TIG and MIG welding both manually and with robotic systems, in order to offer processing that's even faster and more precise.
3. Laser aluminum welding
In addition to traditional aluminum welding with MIG and TIG technology, Minifaber also offers welding with a 3D robotic laser. In this case, the advantages are measured in terms of processing speed and welding precision, even if the material must be meticulously prepared in order to obtain the desired results.
